Holiday clubs were once treated the same as a dodgy plate of paella by wary Brits.
But more people are finding they can get hassle-free breaks from reputable firms.
One of the largest, Club La Costa Resorts and Hotels, has more than 50,000 member families.
The firm offers affordable breaks at resorts in the UK and Europe and timeshare and property deals.
Amy Leighton used the club to find a break on the Costa del Sol with her daughter Amy, 10. Amy, of York, said: "At short notice they found a suitable location at Benal Beach.
"From the reception staff and the restaurant waiters to maid service everything was perfect."
