Pamporovo Ski resort is located 240km away from the Capital city of Sofia and 85km from Plovdiv. It is the most southern skiing resort in Europe and the sunniest Bulgarian mountain resort with wonderful snow throughout the whole season. It boasts no less than 270 sunny days a year on average and in the winter provides an ideal combination of plenty of snow and sparkling sunshine to show off the resort at its best.

The resort of Pamporovo is easy to reach from the UK and is approximately a 3 hour flight into the main airport in Plovdiv. The journey time from the airport to Pamporovo is approximately 2 hours.

Pamporovo is situated 1650m above sea level high among the Rhodope Mountain at the foot of peak Snejanka. This is a beautiful region, set amongst magnificent pine forests and is said to have once been the home of Orpheus.

The resort has a fantastic climate and boasts no less than 270 sunny days a year on average and in the winter features about 120 sunny days during the skiing period. The skiing season starts from mid - December to mid - April and the average air temperature is - 3 ° C. Pamporovo winter provides an ideal combination of plenty of snow and sparkling sunshine to show the resort at its best.

Pamporovo is excellent for beginners and has an internationally renowned ski school and provides first class tuition. The gentle profile of the mountain with its rounded slopes and summits makes the resort particularly suitable for beginners.

The runs are very safe guarded and maintained in excellent condition and suitable for all levels of skiers and snowboarder. The ski runs in Pamporovo come in all hardship levels and they are located between 1926 and 1450 m above the sea level on the northern, eastern and western slopes of The Snejanka peak. The most difficult ski piste is "The Wall" and there is also a Giant Slalom run which is excellent for skiing experts. There is a total of 8 lifts with a total capacity of 8500 persons per hour, so long queues are not an issue.

In recent years there have been many improvements carried out in the resort, including new ski markings and signs, 2 new ski runs red and green, as well as a new 4-seater lift and increased number of snow grooming machines. Pamporovo is aiming to keep its position as a leading Bulgarian ski resort with the opening of new 5 and 4 star holiday properties.

There are also plenty of places to go to when you are not on the slopes and the charming town of Smolyan is nearby, the Bachkovo Monastery is also of great interest. You can also pay a visit to Sofia and Plovdiv for a true Bulgarian city experience.
