Bansko Ski resort is located 160km away from the Capital city of Sofia and 140km from Plovdiv. The resort is one of Bulgaria's number 1 ski resorts and during the last few years it has developed into the best and most modern ski centre making it a favourite ski and snowboard destination.

The resort of Bansko is easy to reach from the UK and is approximately a 3 hour flight into the either main International airport in Sofia and the airport in Plovdiv. The journey time from either airport 2 - 2.5 hours.

The town of Bansko is located 925m above sea level and is one of the biggest and most attractive mountain resorts, but maintains a cosy charm with a unique architecture and historical importance. The resort is situated near the river Glazane, in the north- eastern foot of Pirin, below the highest and most beautiful area of the mountain.

The resort has excellent snow conditions with one of the best snow records and the longest ski seasons, the snow cover is from December until May. There are also 44 snow canons, which cover most of the slopes and make the season last longer and plenty of maintenance vehicles to ensure the pistes are kept in pristine condition.

The Pirin Mountain has a predominantly Alpine character and the highest peak in the area is Vihren 2914m. The pistes are located in two main ski centres and they are approximately 10km above the town on the northern slopes of Pirin. The pistes are easily accessible on the new Gondola lift which starts from Bansko and takes approximately 25 minutes. The other lifts in the resort are excellent there are five 4 seat lifts, one 3 seat lift, 7 drags and 10 baby drags. The total length of the marked pistes is 65km and the longest run is 7km.

Although Bansko is relatively new in the world of skiing, it has the best and most modern ski centre of all the Bulgarian ski resorts, this is due to the multi-million euros investment the area has received over the last few years. The resort offers a great variety of ski pistes that can satisfy everyone's tastes and abilities from beginners to expert skiers.

The concessionaire Ulen provides new opportunities for the skiers, for the snowboarders, for the extreme sports, biathlon and cross country skiing. There are two brand new pistes and for extreme skiers there is the fun park zone. A bonus for the skier is the new 7 km long lighted ski road between Banderishka polyana and the town. Some of the pistes offer wonderful conditions for night skiing, which is available for everyone from 18.30 until 21.30. Snow boarders can enjoy the Balkans fun Park which offers the option to ski over present artificial bumps and jumps as well as to build your own. Also, the half -pipe located by the place where Bansko's famous snow towers are usually built, offers both skiers and snowboarders an arena to boast their latest tricks. Bansko offers great variety of ski pistes that can satisfy everyone's tastes and abilities. The highest ski piste is on 2600 meters above the sea level and 990m.

Bansko is also blessed with plenty of things to see and do, there are around 120 cultural and historical monuments to visit. South of Bansko is the National Park Pirin, which is included in the UNESCO list for cultural and natural sightseeing. The park is rich with its lakes, waterfalls, caves, venerable trees and historical sites.

Being the biggest ski resort of Bulgaria and the most modern, it caters very well for visitors and there are plenty of restaurants and evening entertainment venues to suit everyone.
