Plaza Centers buys Budapest mall

Plaza Centers buys Budapest mall

Plaza Centers Europe N.V.Group and Israeli businessman Sammy Smucha have bought Új Udvar shopping mall in downtown Budapest. The mall will be closed for about six months for renovation, daily Népszabadság reported. Soleh Bolei, who built the mall nine years ago, will remain among the owners. The acquisition and the renovation work will cost a total of € 30 million (Kč 810 million). The new owners will replace the movie theater, which has been out of operation for years, with a bowling center and a 3,000 sqm supermarket will be added. The mall’s entrance on Bécsi street will also be remodeled, along with the interior space, which will be made suitable for smaller shops. Plaza Centers Europe N.V.Group, an international concern engaged in the development and operation of shopping and entertainment centers, is also active on the Czech market through its subsidiary Plaza Centers Czech Republic.
